Medicaid Unwinding: Helping service recipients keep their health care coverage
NHCHC, CSH and NAEH are presenting on what the Medicaid ‘unwinding’ means for homeless services and supportive housing providers. Did you know that states have not actively worked to disenroll anyone from Medicaid since the start of the COVID pandemic? The process of assessing for ongoing eligibility, known as redetermiations, is beginning again in the first half of 2023. This process must start by April 1, 2023, but some states will start as soon as February 1, 2023. States then have 12 months to complete the process for everyone. National experts expect millions of individuals will lose coverage despite being eligible.

This webinar will cover what Medicaid redetermination means and how you can assist your service participants in taking steps now to get ready for the process and respond to states’ requests in a timely manner with the information needed to re-assess their eligibility. If your agency bills Medicaid for any services, this is doubly important, as your agency cannot be paid by Medicaid for services if the person you are assisting is not enrolled in Medicaid.
